GROUP COACHING

Teaching, along with assisting teachers like Tom Leabhart and Christine Cole, has taught me to follow the indications given by what Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen calls 'the mind of the room.' Whether it's a group discussion, an embodiment practice, or a guided improvisation, I find that the work unfolds itself to the participants, as long as I am patient and attuned with my facilitation. This has led people who come to my workshops to feel safe in facing their challenges, and in meeting one another in ways that further their individual understandings of themselves. I am delighted and enthused to continue to organize and support group processes where participants can take deep dives into their bodies and emerge with gems of insight that generally remain hidden without abundant support for investigation. Daring to come close to the truth of direct experience while in group process has consistently reminded me of the magic that community and relationship hold when it comes to personal growth and well-being.

I felt really safe in the container... I left this two day workshop with a big smile. I couldn’t stop laughing, and found myself playful and youthful.

In the workshop, when we were crawling - and, as a baby I didn’t like to crawl, I just started walking - I see that I like in life to skip over some parts, sometimes to my benefit, sometimes not really. In childhood, I skipped that developmental stage, and in life I try to do that as well... It’s not a bad thing. I don’t have any judgement. It’s just how I do things. That was a major insight.
